Tanganyika Blue is pioneering the first commercial Tanzanian Native Species Aquaculture farm on Lake Tanganyika. Our mission is to catalyze a sustainable blue revolution by establishing Native Species Aquaculture practices that support food security, community empowerment, and environmental sustainability in the Lake Tanganyika region. TB is expanding its aquaculture operations and moving to Kimbwela, Kigoma. Strong, transparent relationships with the local community are critical to Tanganyika Blue's long-term sustainability, especially with the increased scale and geographical spread. This role is essential to laying the groundwork for a supportive, informed local ecosystem.


We are seeking an experienced candidate who will act as the primary liaison between Tanganyika Blue and the local community and ministry, ensuring proactive respectful and mutually beneficial relations. This role helps manage expectations, coordinate outreach and resolve community concerns around Tanganyika Blue before they escalate by ensuring a constructive level-headed dialogue.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single point of contact for community matters (e.g. village events).
  • Coordinate community outreach initiatives, such as training locals in fish farming or organizing exposure visits with the local government or community when needed.
  • Organize community events, stakeholder site visits, and environmental awareness campaigns.
  • Document all engagements and maintain a database of stakeholder relationships
  • Work collaboratively with other departments for planning and facilitating structured site visits, community feedback sessions, and public communication of Tanganyika Blue's initiatives and impact.


Expected Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, with a proven experience in in community engagement, stakeholder coordination, or local development work
  • Strong communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills. Must be able to build relationships with local communities and government representatives, lead initiatives, and coordinate community-linked projects effectively
  • Administrative experience in reporting and documentation and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite such as Teams and Outlook
  • Strong spoken and written English and Swahili
  • Able to handle both average and sensitive requests and maintain professionalism at all times
  • Trustworthy and can be relied upon by both internal and external stakeholders
  • Skilled at structured event and program planning, for example fundraising for a local school project or coordinating a fish farm visit.
  • An understanding on rural development dynamics, with experience in Kigoma being an added advantage
  • A keen interest in sustainable development and the aquaculture industry. An individual who champions the vision, mission and values of Tanganyika Blue
